About

I'm terrified that what I have to say has all already been said before.

But I'm saying it anyway. My way.

Holly Girling is a writer, editor, and the founder of Girling Publishing. Born in London, raised in the bagel-scented New Jersey suburbs of NYC, she has lived and written across Europe, the US, and the UK — finding stories in the spaces between languages, places, and versions of herself.

Her short fiction has appeared in Panel Lit Magazine. She has edited three anthologies funded by the University of Vienna. Her debut collection, Narrating the Château, was researched and written as part of her MA in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University.

She writes about women and their relationships to place. To girlhood. To the stories they weren't sure they were allowed to tell.

Girling Publishing is the home for that work, and for the work of women who haven't found their home yet. Holly offers editorial support to writers who want help finding their voice on the page. Not workshopped into palatability. The actual voice. She leads creative writing workshops and consults on anthology projects from concept to finished book — the whole thing, start to finish.

If you have something to say and you're not sure how to say it yet, this is the right place.

Too busy girling to wait for permission.

Let’s talk

Whether you're here for the book, a collaboration, or because you have a story you don't quite know how to tell yet — my inbox is open.

I offer editorial support to women writers who want help finding their voice on the page. Not polishing it into something safer. Your authentic voice.

I'm also always looking for illustrators, bookbinders, and makers who want to work on books as beautiful objects.

Or just say hello.
